Delta Police rescue kidnap victim, recover vehicle

The Delta State Police Command, Ozoro Division, says it has rescued a twenty-two-year-old man who was allegedly kidnapped and taken away in the boot of his car by his attackers.

It was gathered that the victim was attacked by four armed men, who kidnapped him and drove him away in his silver Lexus RX 350 car.

A statement by the State Police spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe on Tuesday, said the kidnappers abandoned the victim and fled the crime scene due to a hot chase by the police.

According to the statement, “On the 20/3/2022 at about 0300hrs, the DPO Ozoro received information that at about 0230hour of the same date, a man was kidnapped and taken away in the boot of his RX 350 car silver in colour with Reg. No. ASB 124 HK by four armed men.

“He stated that they drove towards Ughelli in Ughelli North LGA.

“Consequently, Dragon Patrol Teams 27, 28, 19, 20, and 16 were massively deployed to the scene.

“The teams went on an intelligent led operation and trailed the kidnappers to PTI junction Effurun, where the kidnappers upon noticing that the teams were closing in on them abandoned the victim and the vehicle and fled.

“The victim (name withheld) ‘m’ age 22yrs of Ozoro was rescued unhurt and the vehicle recovered.”

Edafe said a manhunt is ongoing to arrest the fleeing hoodlums.
