Court reserves judgement in murder of landlady by security guard

A High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has reserved judgement on the murder case of late Mrs Esther Edomobi, who was allegedly murdered at her residence in Cocaine Village, Obio/Akpor local government area, by her security guard in collaboration with three others.

Late Esther Edomobi was said to have been murdered by the 1st Defendant, Zakariah Dauda employed as a guard in her home, who conspired with Inah-Inah Edet, Sunday Pius and Isaac Marcus, 2nd to 4th Defendants to kill the deceased on 24th May 2008.

The 1st Defendant, Zakariah Dauda who was arrested along the Oyigbo axis of the Port Harcourt-Aba Road, why fleeing to his home town with the deceased Toyota Avanza car and lots of properties, is charged alongside his accomplice for conspiracy and murder.

The Presiding Judge, Justice Weli Chechey, asked Counsel in the matter to address the court before judgement date, on the issue of whether the confessional statement of the Defendants admitted in trial within the trial is binding on the court to use in the judgement.

Our correspondent reports that Justice Chechey, however, adjourned the case to 28 March 2022 for Judgement.
