Hausa residents in Omoku, the headquarters of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State have accused a masquerade group known as Okrosu of robbing them.

Some of the Hausa residents who simply gave their names as Isah, Muhammad and Ibrahim told our correspondent that the masquerade group met them on public roads in Omoku and forcefully collected their phones and cash.

They said the masquerade group was armed with dangerous weapons such as machetes, daggers, bottles among others.

When contacted for confirmation, the Leader of the Hausa community in ONELGA, Alhaji Mustafa Abdullahi told our correspondent that the matter has been reported to security agencies and the Oba of Ogbaland.

He said, “my people were robbed of their phones, cash including rice and other edible items by a masquerade group called Okrosu.

“Omoku is not a village; why would security agencies and the traditional authority allow a violent masquerade group to display on the streets of Omoku without regulating its activities?

“We want justice for our people and we are ready to take this matter to any length until we get justice.”
