The University of Port Harcourt has enrolled over nine thousand students for the 2021/2022 academic session at its 43rd Matriculation Ceremony.

Speaking during the ceremony on Tuesday at the University’s convocation arena, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Georgewill Owunari, advised the new students to uphold the academic and moral norms of the institution.

Professor Owunari also charged the students to put education first before unionism, as well as to shun all social vices.

Some of the newly-matriculated students, in high spirits said they hoped to work hard as well as explore what the school had in store for them.

Speaking to TPCN, one of the matriculants said he had waited for admission for some years and had almost lost hope of going to the university.

However, he explained that when he received the admission, he knew he had to make himself and family proud, adding that he would work hard to finish at the duration slated for his study.
