Rivers Polytechnic suspends lecturer over alleged exploitation of female student

The Management of Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic Rumuola, Port Harcourt, has suspended one of its lecturers, Tamunotonye Zoe Solomon for three (3) months, over alleged harassment and exploitation of a female student of the institution.

Registrar of the institution, Chris Nwoke, in a statement dissociated the institution from the alleged conduct of its staff Tamunotonye Zoe Solomon and other acts of misconduct prejudicial to the good name of the polytechnic, noting that the suspension will take effect from 10 January, 2022,

He, however, maintained that the school authority has set up an investigative panel to investigate the allegation and submit its report to management within one month.

Recall that on 31st December, 2021, one Mrs Ruth Lucky Audu, had called for intervention over the unlawful arrest and detention of her daughter Blessing Audu at a Police station in Port Harcourt, a student of the polytechnic, by a lecturer Tamunotonye Zoe Solomon, for an alleged diversion of two hundred and fifty thousand naira and POS machine.

Blessing Audu had denied diverting money belonging to the lecturer while insisting that she was arrested because she rejected his love advances and Marriage proposal, and was later released on intervention of the Commissioner of Police CP Eboka Friday.
