Imo Insecurity: Uzodimma trying to implicate my family – Rochas Okorocha

Rochas Okorocha, the Senator representing Imo West Senatorial District in the National Assembly says police officers who arrested his son-in-law and former chief of staff, Uche Nwosu came from the Imo State Government House.

He accused Governor Hope Uzodimma of embarking on an ‘unprecedented level of hatred’ against members of his family.

Nwosu was arrested Gestapo style by police officers at St Peter’s Anglican Church Nkwerre allegedly on the orders from above.

Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Rochas said officers of the state government who attended the burial of Uche Nwosu’s mother were suspended by Uzodimma.

According to him, the police officers who arrested his son-in-law were the same officers who arrested him earlier this year.

He said: “I called the commissioner of police and confirmed to me a few hours ago that the order came from above.

“I’m yet to see if the order came from the Inspector-General of Police. But if it is, I’m yet to see to the offence committed by Uche Nwosu to warrant the desecration of the church and a lot of shootings that have left a lot of people injured.

“I want to request for the last time that security agencies, the presidency must look into what is happening in Imo State, vis-a-vis the government of Imo State and members of my family”.

Rochas who was a former governor of the state said his family has gone through a lot of insult and humiliation at the hands of the government of Imo State.

He explained that he was trying to understand the level of misinformation that must have made the IGP to gave such a directive for police officers to go to a church and shoot and harass people.

He said: “I feel that enough is enough and Hope Uzodimma has been in the business of trying to get any member of my family and myself involved in this type of hatred.

“Of recent, two of drivers were arrested and kept by one police officer, a Superintendent of Police from the government house.

“These two young men told me horror stories of what they saw, 60 days incarceration in the police cell and how they brought people every day and shot them, asking them to say that Rochas or any member of his family was involved in the insurgency in Imo state.

“If you hear the stories of these young men and how people were shot before them and killed them and only a few days ago, the governor said he will unveil the sponsors of insecurity in the state.

“I know that this is his act, this is him constantly lying on daily basis on issues which have resulted in bad governance in Imo State. But I don’t want the police to get involved. I don’t want the APC government to get involved in a matter like this that will tarnish the image of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“The Governor of Imo State is an embarrassment to the nation and to democracy and must never be allowed anymore to continue to have his way with some of his wicked acts.

“Uzodimma knows nothing but crookedness. Imo people are in so much pain because of one man, so much insecurity because of one man and because he feels he has the backing of the federal government, the police, army or SSS, he chose to do this evil to mankind. Hope Uzodimma must be called to order immediately”
