4th edition of Bonny Marathon holds on December 11

The 4th edition of Bonny International Marathon BIM will take place on 11th December 2021 at Bonny Island in Rivers State, Nigeria.

The 10km Bonny Island Marathon is one of the fastest-growing sporting events held in Bonny Island, Rivers State, Nigeria.

The competition has attracted over 9,000 participants running as professionals, amateur, and leisure runners across the male and female categories since its inception in 2018.

Over 1000 participants are expected to compete in this year’s edition.

The organizers of the Bonny Island Marathon also said that this year’s marathon will be used to create awareness against drug abuse and social vices among youths across the country.

The Tournament Director of Bonny Marathon, Prince Brown revealed that the prize money for the 2021 marathon has been increased to one million naira ($2,432.36) to be shared among winners in both men and women categories.

The organizers noted that the competition is open for all marathoners across the globe.

”The competition is open for everyone. We also want to this avenue to drive a campaign against drug and other social vices. And as well too, we’re tying it to His Majesty’s (King Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III) 25th years coronation anniversary. A total prize of one million naira will be shared among the winners” he said.

Registration according to the organizers is free and registration closes on November 30, 2021.
