UNIPORT debunks academic staff recruitment report

The University of Port Harcourt has disassociated itself from reports purportedly credited to the institution of recruiting new lecturers.

In a disclaimer, the University’s Public Relations Officer, Sam Kpenu, described the advertisement circulating on social media for lecturers’ recruitment as the creation of fraudulent individuals.

Kpenu explained that the institution only advertised for the position of External Auditor, Director of Works and Services, and Director of Procurement.

He urged the public to disregard the publication while noting that security operatives have been notified of the development.

The statement read, “The attention of the management of the University of Port Harcourt has been drawn to a publication making the rounds on the social media to the effect that the university is recruiting academic staff.

“Members of the public are, therefore, enjoined to distance themselves from such publications, as it can only be the handiwork of fraudulent individuals with unsuspecting members of the public as their targets.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the university only advertised for the appointment of External Auditor, Director of Works and Services as well as Director of Procurement.

“If and when the university has the need for any recruitment exercise, official notice will be channelled through its website @ www.uniport.edu.ng as well as mainstream/conventional media outlets.

“This fake and fraudulent recruitment exercise has been reported to the security agencies, and it is expected that for those involved in this unwholesome practice, the long arm of the law would soon catch up with them”, the statement added.
