The immediate Past Councilors of fourteen (14) wards in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, have cried out over the failure of the Council authority to pay their seven months salaries and other entitlement accrued to them while in office.

Recall that Governor Nyesom Wike had during the swearing in of the current Council Chairmen directed that all money owed to the councillors be cleared upon resumption to office.

The Emohua eight Legislative Assembly had lamented that the present Emohua administration is working contrary to the Governor’s directives, by refusing to pay them their salaries and other entitlement amounting to over ten million naira owed to each person.

They stated that every effort to draw the attention of the Council Chairman, Chidi Lloyd over the unpaid salaries and entitlement has fallen on deaf ears.

In a statement jointly signed by all the eight Legislative Assembly led by Evans Chekwas-Waleru, in what appears to be a protest, called on Governor Wike and all well-meaning Nigerians to intervene on their plights.

All effort made to reach the Emohua Council Chairman, Chidi Lloyd to react to the allegations did not yield positive results as at the time of filing the report.
