The Asari-Toru Local Government Council has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the Network for the Defence of Democracy and Good Governance NDDGG to retract its statement in a viral video on Social Media where it alleged that the Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Area and his Akuku-Toru counterpart are nursing plans to assassinate its leader, Sobomabo Jackrich, popularly known as Egberipapa.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Council, JohnPaul Braide while reacting to the allegations described it as false.

JohnPaul Braide described NDDGG and its leader, Egberipapa as a passionate attention-seeking band, who are pained by the developmental strides of Governor Nyesom Wike-led administration.

“Asari-Toru Local Government Council has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the Network for the Defense of Democracy and Good Governance (NDDGG) to retract its statement in a viral video on Social Media about an alleged ‘uncovered’ plot to assassinate its leader, Sobomabo Jackrich, also known as Egberipapa, whereas it mentioned the Executive Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Area and his Akuku-Toru Local Government Area counterpart as official marksmen for the imaginary assassination plot at the behest of “highly placed persons” in Rivers State.

“Ordinarily, the Council would not have bothered responding to the virulent and dubiously rambling press statement of the NDDGG for the simple reason that the group and its leader, Egberipapa are passionate attention-seeking band, having been known as one of such entities in the State pained by the developmental strides of the Gov. Nyesom Wike-led administration”.

“However, our response has thus become quite necessary in view of the risk that the danger of allowing misinformation or blatant falsehood to stand and flourish, is the irreparable harm it does to society, as such misinformation leads to the arrest of social development and alters the popular aspiration of the people”.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Council, JohnPaul Braide said the outburst of Network for the Defence of Democracy and Good Governance, NDDGG’S is coming few days after the declaration of Zero Tolerance for criminality in ASALGA by the Chairman of the council, Hon. Onengiyeofori George.
He said that Egberipapa and his group will not have a conducive ground for his political misadventure and anti-government activities.

“Interestingly, the NDDGG’S outburst is coming just at the heels of the declaration of Zero Tolerance for criminality in ASALGA by the Executive Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Area, Hon. Onengiyeofori George, who promised not to spare perpetrators of crime in ASALGA with the agencies in the area put on red alert. This is apparently a warning signal to the NDDGG and its leader, Egberipapa that ASALGA may not be conducive ground for his political misadventure and farcical anti-government activities”.

“The Latin maxim ‘Semper necessitas probandi incumbit ei qui agit’ essentially means ‘he who asserts must prove. This has been the accepted legal burden of proof in justice systems around the world for centuries. It is on this precept that the Asari-Toru Local Government Council issued this 48hours ultimatum to NDDGG to retract its libellous statement on the person and character of our Executive Chairman, Hon. Onengiyeofori George, or be ready to face legal actions,” he said.
