Delta state gets new Chief Judge

The government of Delta State has sworn in a new acting Chief Judge in replacement of the immediate past Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Marshal Umukoro.

The new Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Theresa Diai was inaugurated, in a swearing in ceremony which held at the Delta state Government House in Asaba on Monday.

This is coming few days after the former chief judge, Hon. Justice Umukoro took a bow out of the bar, as he retired as the Chief Judge of the state.

In a press statement, released on Thursday by the state Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, he praised the retired Justice for the legacy he left behind.

“Hon. Justice Marshal Umukoro is not only the Chief Judge to Delta State, but his family has also become part of our family, and he and his wife have become great friends to Edith and me. This is why, earlier today, I was honoured to speak about Hon. Justice Umukoro’s service to Delta State and the judiciary of the nation at large.

“As he retires from service, Hon. Justice Umukoro leaves behind a legacy of a stronger and autonomous Delta State judiciary, which will help to serve present and future generations of Deltans. We thank him for his exemplary service.” He said
