Police raid IPOB camp in Akwa Ibom, arrest 6

Akwa Ibom State Police Command says its operatives and the military have raided a camp belonging to the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, in Essien Udim, arresting six persons, including the wife of a juju priest.

The command said they raided the camp described as “The Camp/Shrine”, claiming that it arrested some IPOB/ESN members who have been terrorizing Akwa Ibom Communities.

Recall that hoodlums attacked a combined military and police team in the area in March resulting in the death of at least 10 police and military personnel, while their operational vehicles were burnt.

Among those arrested include Lawrence Saviour Akpan of Obot Akara Nto Asiak; Saturday Okon Job of Uruk Osun Obot Akara; Friday Philip Inyang of Ikot Afengaha Village in Essien Udim and Emediong Micheal Davis of Mbiobong Ikono Uyo.

Others are Friday Peter Akpan of Ikot Akpan, Essien Udim and the wife of the dreaded juju priest Mrs Imaobong Saviour Nkwo of Ikot Obuk, Obot Akara Local Government Area.

The statement further assures that the force is still on the ground to maintain stability.
