Brave Dickson

Unknown gunmen have again shot six persons dead in Uegwere Community in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The killing which occurred on Sunday morning at about 9am disrupted church services as the community dwellers ran indiscriminately for their dear lives.

The names of those killed were sent to our correspondent as: Prince Kibani, Tambari Isbaranwi, Zorbari Bete, Barikpe Iyee, Lucky Eeloo and Bari-eeba Longlife Yor-asere respectively.

Narrating the incident, the Community Development Committee Chairman of Uegwere Community, Mirror Adoobe said, “I was in a church service when we started hearing sporadic gun shots.

“I quickly came out of the church and put a call across to the Bori Police Divisional Officer.

“Suddenly, my entire community was thrown into wailing and indiscriminate running for safety.

“These gunmen invaded my community, went straight to were six persons from my community were holding a meeting and shot all of them dead.

“I don’t understand the reason behind this wanton waste of human lives by the killers because my community has been known for peace.

“I am calling on relevant authorities to come and help secure our lives and property because this killing has put fear into everyone in this community.”

Confirming the incident to our correspondent, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area, SP Bako Angbashim said normalcy has returned to the community.

He said, “Four persons have been declared wanted in connection with the attack. I will get all those involved in the killing and bring them to book.
