Ogoni youths welcome PH refinery upgrade, call for rehabilitation of refinery’s access road

The Ogoni Youth Federation (OYF) has commended the Federal Government for the approval of $1.5billion (about 600 billion naira) for the rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt Refinery.

The group, however, expressed worry that the road leading to the Ogoniland where the refinery alongside other multi-national companies base, especially in the oil and gas support services such as; Petrochemical complex, Fertilizer Plants, Nigeria Port Authority, Oil and Gas Free Zone etc, is in a serious state of disrepair and commuters travel on it holding their breath.

Comrade Legborsi Yamaabana, President-General, Ogoni Youth Federation in a statement, urged President Muhammadu Buhari to, as a matter of urgency mobilize the contractor handling the road, Reynolds Construction Company (RCC) Limited back to the site so that the trucks carrying the multi-million dollar maintenance equipment for the refinery does not fall into the numerous potholes that are evident on the road and create further hazards for the already overwhelmed people of the Niger Delta.
