Daddy Freeze ordered to pay N5m for adultery

Ifedayo Olarinde, also known as Daddy Freeze, the controversial OAP, was asked to pay the sum of N5m in damages for committing adultery with his current partner, Benedicta Elechi. At the same time, she was still married to Paul Odekina.

On February 18, 2021, a High Court sitting in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State, dissolved the marriage between Odenika and Elechi, cited Benedicta’s adulterous act with Daddy Freeze as the reason and also ordered him to pay the sum of N5m for damages.
Listed in the suit with no PHC/403MC/2012 is Benedicta Odekina nee Elechi as the petitioner and cross petitioner, Mr Odekina, the first respondent and cross petitioner Mr Olarinde (Daddy Freeze) as the co-respondent.

Since then, the story has gone viral on different social media platforms. Nigerians have wasted no time trolling the popular OAP, Daddy Freeze, which has grown quite the reputation for criticising pastors and Nigerian churches.

Giving the judgement, the presiding Judge, Hon Justice Akpughunum, in a judgment which lasted more than 1.30min, ruled that Benedicta’s husband proved his case of adultery against Daddy Freeze and Benedicta through photographic,  documentary and electronic evidence, as well as the admission of Benedicta Elechi herself.

Daddy Freeze’s fiancée, Benedicta Elechi, admitted to having an affair and getting pregnant for him while still legally married and living with her now estranged husband, Paul Odenika, the executive manager of Human Resource at Total E&P Nigeria Limited. He was also granted custody of the children produced in the marriage, and Benedicta has been ordered to hand over the children’s passports and birth certificates.

Daddy Freeze, the co-respondent to the husband’s cross-petition, was MIA the 2nd time at the court proceedings.
