NPFL: Warri Wolves compound woes for Rivers United

Warri Wolves FC compounded the woes of Rivers United after beating the Port Harcourt based side one-nil in matchday 12 of the Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL.

Emeka Udoh scored the only goal of the game in the 65’minutes of the game to secure the three maximum points for the home side.

Rivers United is yet to claim an away win since Governor Nyesom Wike promised a10 million naira bonus for any victory on the road.

The result now leaves Rivers United in the 7th position on the NPFL table with 18 points from 10 games.

The ‘Pride of Rivers’ has two outstanding games to play in the NPFL following their participation in the CAF Confederation Cup competition.

The team was eliminated by Enyimba fc in the play-off round of the CAF Confederation Cup competition.

Elsewhere, Kano Pillars move to the top of the Nigeria Professional League NPFL table after beating visiting Sunshine Stars of Akure one-nil.

The team is now at the summit of the league with 23 points from 12 games.

In the other NPFL results, two-time CAF Champions League winners Enyimba fc played a one-all draw with Akwa United in Aba while the game between Kwara United of Ilorin and Abia Warriors also ended one all.

The result leaves Enyimba, who have two games in hand in third place on 22 points with Akwa United three points and three places behind.

Nasarawa United thrashed Ifeanyi Ubah United three-nil while Plateau United also beat Jigawa Golden Stars with the same scoreline.

Wikki Tourist of Bauchi also defeated Enugu Rangers two one to claim the three maximum points.

In today’s fixtures Adamawa United will face Lobi Stars as Heartland fc of Owerri entertains Dakkada FC at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri while Katsina United will play host to MFM FC.
