Rivers Angels FC defeated Osun Babes two one in the match-day 6 of the Nigeria Women’s Football League NWFL at the Sports Institute of the University of Port Harcourt, Choba.

Cynthia Akwu opened the scoring while Yemisi Samuel levelled up before halftime.

Damilola Koku got the winning goal for the home side in the second half to seal the victory.

Speaking to newsmen after the game, Coach of Rivers Angels Edwin Okon expressed satisfaction with the victory.

He said the team’s target is to pick the three maximum points at stake.

The former Super Falcons Coach also commended his side for their hard work throughout the game.

He also said that Rivers Angels would focus on picking an away victory in their next game.

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike had promised to give 10 million naira to both Rivers United and Rivers Angels for any away victory recorded in their various league competitions.

”Three points at stake. I thanked God for the three points. It’s not an easy game” he said.

The Coach of Osun Babes Olayinka Adunola said the team was disappointed with the loss.

The coach said they came to Port Harcourt with the aim of winning the tie.

The coach, however, said Osun Babes were not disgraced by Rivers Angels.

”In the game of football winner must emerge, we came down to Port Harcourt fully for three points, but the result was not bad. We tried all we could to get the three points but in football, you win some, you lose some” she said.

Olayinka Adunola also said Osun Babes were not intimidated by Rivers Angels pedigree in the league.

She said her team only respects big names in the game but does not fear them.

The Osun Babes gaffer told newsmen that tactics win games and not big names.
