First witness concludes testimony in murder of Rivers mechanic

The first witness in the murder trial of late Ikokwu mechanic Chima Ikwunado has concluded his testimony in the murder trial.

The first witness Ifeanyi Onyekwere, who is also a victim of the Police torture insisted that the Police tortured him alongside late CHIMA at the Police station.

Four dismissed Police officers, Fidelis Ayogu, Chibuzor Ekeh, Rose Georgewill, and Fidelis Egbunefu are standing trial for the torture and murder of Chima Ikwunado.

Chima Ikwunado, Victor Ogbonna, Osaze Friday, Ifeanyi Osuji and Ifeanyi Onyekwere were arrested for driving against traffic and tortured at Mile 1 Police Station.

Ifeanyi Onyekwere during his cross examination said he got a medical report of his torture after he was released from custody.

Our correspondent reports that the case is adjourned to 26th February for the continuation of trial.

The trial Judge Justice F.A.Fiberesima also announced12th, 29th, and 30th of March 2021 as additional dates for the murder trial of late Chima Ikwunado

Speaking to newsmen outside the court, the State prosecuting lawyer Chidi Ekeh said more witnesses will testify during the next adjourned date.

Chidi Ekeh also assured that the prosecuting team will ensure justice is served in the matter.

”Yes, justice will certainly come out of it because justice is for everybody. Justice for the defense, justice for the victim, and justice for the state. he said.

C.W.Nsitem, the lawyer of the second defendant in the matter said they will continue cross-examination during the next adjourned date.
