Rivers varsity students protest reoccurring cancellation of exams

Final year students of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Port Harcourt have protested the reoccurring cancellation of their exams by the University’s authority.

It was gathered that the protest was as a result of the cancellation of edu411 and edu413 exams.

The Monday’s cancellation makes it the third time the exams were cancelled.

The school management in a memo, said the reason for the initial cancellation was due to leaking out of the examination question papers which resulted in large number of Success by the students.

The school’s Senate, it was gathered, fixed today for the re-sitting of the examination but later cancelled it.

Comr. Destiny Omunakuw, President of the Student Union Government of the University, while addressing the final year students at the SUG building said he will make sure that the already written examinations stands.

He also urged the students to go home and celebrate the Christmas with joy, and have it at back of their mind that the examination can’t be canceled.

Meanwhile, the director student affair Dr. C. A. Ajie told the protesting students that the vice-chancellor, Prof Ozor Mekuri-Ndimele has declared the already convened examinations which were to hold today and tomorrow cancelled.

He added that the school management will meet with the S. U. G to resolve the matter.
