The Chairman, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (M.A.N) Rivers and Bayelsa State, Senator Adawari Michael Pepple, wants the River State government to provide a suitable place of operation for companies and industries in the state.

He made this call during the association’s annual general meeting held in Port Harcourt.

Senator Pepple said that the Trans-Amadi Industrial layout has outlived its purpose, as the area is flooded with hotels and residential houses.

“The annual general meeting is for us to give an account of our stewardship to the members of the association in the branch and also let the national know because they have a monitoring power and to also know what and what we are doing.

“The covid-19 pandemic has affected us quite greatly, access to raw material has been a very big challenge.

“Within this period of this covid-19, it has affected us quite seriously in this area than elsewhere, that
is why we have been on the state government of both Rivers and Bayelsa state to consider the issue of an industrial park.

“Trans Amadi Industrial layout has outlived its usefulness. It is filled up with hotels and residential buildings now, so it can no longer meet its present aspiration of manufacturing concern and so they should be thinking of setting up an industrial park.

“We have done a paper to the commissioner and we are hoping his excellency, the governor of Rivers State will have a look at it”
