Four months after announcement, Amaechi names Agbor rail station after Jonathan

The Federal Government has renamed the Agbor railway station after former President Goodluck Jonathan.

The development follows the completion of the Itakpe-Warri standard gauge rail line.

Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi revealed this via Twitter on Saturday.

“Today, we continued test-run of our new coaches on the completed Itakpe-Warri standard gauge rail line.

“We’ve named the largest station on this route – the Agbor railway facility and station after former President Goodluck Jonathan,” Amaechi said on Twitter.

Amaechi had in April said the Itakpe-Warri rail line will be named after former president Goodluck Jonathan.

Speaking during an interview with Dele Momodu, Publisher of Ovation Magazine, Amaechi disclosed why Buhari has not commissioned Itakpe-Warri rail line after it was completed.

He said: “Now the project is ready for Commissioning but because of Coronavirus everything is on hold.

“And you know the President is a shy person. He doesn’t like public show.

“What he said is that let’s just focus on our achievements and by the time we leave office people will see what we have done but some of us are insisting that we commission some of our projects. We have decided to name it after former President Goodluck Jonathan.”
