‘I’m not following anybody’ Nunieh says as Police lay siege on her residence

The Port Harcourt G.R.A residence of Mrs Joy Nunieh, the former acting Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), was taken over by men of the Nigerian Police Force at the early hours of Thursday, 16th July.

The lawyer told a correspondent that the Police officers attempted to break the main door leading into her apartment.

“This morning at about 4.30 I was trying to get ready to catch the first flight to Abuja to come for my testimony thing. So I learnt that Police person at my house, so I now asked my girl to check”.

She said: ” The police people said I should follow them and I say this morning, what if they keep me till 4, 5 o’clock there.

“I’m not following anybody.”

“I don’t know whether they are trying to break my door,”.

Nnamdi Omoni, the public relations officer of the Rivers State Police Command did not immediately respond to inquiries for comments on the raid.

Nunieh has been having weeks of run-ins with Godswill Akpabio, the minister of Niger Delta Affairs after accusing the minister of mountain corruption and sexual predation at a sitting by a senate committee investigating NDDC finances.
