Buhari nominates ex-Rivers Assembly member as ambassador designate, to replace Ngofa

Maureen Tamuno, a former member of the Rivers State House of Assembly from Bolo in Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area has been nominated by President Muhammadu Buhari as an ambassador-designate.

She is among the 41 non-career ambassadors nominated by Buhari and whose names have been sent to the senate for confirmation.

Tamuno, a member of the state’s 6th house was also an immediate past board member of the Nigerian Railway Corporation.

She also contested for the Ogu/Bolo federal constituency in 2016 under the All Progressives Congress, APC, but was defeated by Gogo Tamuno of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

She will replace Oji Ngofa as Rivers non-career ambassador who has been the Nigerian Ambassador to the Netherlands since 2016.
