Covid-19: Schools, pleasure park comply with Wike’s directives

Schools across the state have complied to the directives by Governor Nyesom Wike to close down academic institutions following the outbreak of coronavirus.

Governor Nyesom Wike during a broadcast recently ordered the closure of schools, cinemas, fun places, parks, public burials, weddings, public gatherings and restricting movements.

some teachers who spoke on condition of anonymity commended the move by Rivers State Government to shut down schools.

Some of the teachers said such move will curb the spread of coronavirus in Rivers State.

Our correspondent who monitored the compliance level of the directives reports that most schools have closed down following the directives.

Also, Pleasure Park was closed for business.

Meanwhile, it’s business as usual in Waterlines axis of Port Harcourt as commuters are still going about their business as at the time of filing the reports.

The commuters said the measures introduced by Governor Wike by banning public places are too harsh on the residents.

They said most residents get their daily bread by going out every day.

Some of them advised the State Government to provide some palliatives before banning such places.
