One Golden Mmaduabuchi ‘m’ of 56yrs old is now telling a magistrate court in Port Harcourt why he allegedly defrauded Ibezim Charles Uchenna to the tune of two million, four hundred and sixty nine thousand naira (N2.469,000) through the use of false pretense that he is a medical doctor.
Prior to the defendant’s arrest, the complainant, Uchenna had reported through the medium of a petition to the state Commissioner of Police that Mmaduabuchi and one other at large obtained some millions from him in pretense of being a medical doctor that he can help his wife to deliver a set of baby twins.
The defendant was also accused of defrauding the complainant at Rumuodomaya in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State through the impersonation of a medical doctor which is punishable under section 419 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37 Vol 2, Laws of the Rivers State of Nigeria 1999.
The five count charges against the defendant said: “He obtained the sum of N2million from the complainant in pretense of a medical doctor to nurture his pregnant wife till child delivery which was false.
“That the defendant also obtained another N450,000 from the complainant to procure vacuum pump for the delivery of his wife’s unborn baby which was false.
“And that the defendant again obtained the sum of N19,000 from the complainant to procure delivery kits for the delivery of his wife’s unborn baby which was false adding that the defendant was fully aware of his game tricks.”
Meanwhile, the court has adjourned a case of phone snatching against one Goodluck Ebi ‘m’ till April 7, 2020.
A source allegedly told our correspondent that Ebi is a serial phone thief along the Rumuokwuta-Rumuola axis of Port Harcourt.
Luck ran out of the defendant when he and his gang who is still at large allegedly stole the phone of one Destiny Chibuchi and the matter was reported to the police which eventually led to his arrest and prosecution.
