Rivers: Army to hold Tombola Night in honour of new GOC

The 6 Division of the Nigerian Army has announced a special Tombola Night this Thursday, February 28 beginning from 8pm at the Python Officers Mess of its Port Harcourt barracks in Rivers State.
The Tombola Night was tagged, “special” because it is organized in honour of the newly deployed General Officer Commanding of the Division, Major General Felix Ogugo who had not witnessed any since he was deployed to Rivers State as GOC.
In an off record chat with our correspondent, the Chairman of the Python Officers Mess Committee, Lieutenant Colonel, Chukwuma Ogbu Ani urged the general public to come and celebrate with the army.
The Lieutenant Colonel said the forthcoming Tombola Night will be very interesting following the line up of some exciting army displays as well as raffle draw and other games.
He said: “Tombola was one of the many programmes designed for officers and civilians to interact in order to foster cordial relations and security.
“Tombola Night is a social gathering that affords officers and their civilian friends the opportunity to meet and interact in an informal atmosphere.
“Games have been packaged to promote the existing cordial relationship between the military and the civilians.
“The games will be competitive and interesting, as participants will go home with a lot of prizes like refrigerator, gas cookers, DVD player, bags of rice, cow, flat screen television, among others.

“We want the civilians to move closer to us and be our friends, we are their friends and we will try our best to provide them with adequate security.”
