Rivers Crisis: Pro-Fubara Group Expels Members Over Ties with Wike

The Concerned Rivers Citizens (CRC) announced on Tuesday that it has expelled some of its members suspected of being loyal to former Governor Nyesom Wike. The group’s President, Jackson Thomas, and Secretary-General, Kelvin Eguono, stated in a joint statement that the individuals were expelled due to their “selfish and malicious activities.”

The CRC alleged that these members had attempted to blackmail Governor Siminalayi Fubara to please their “paymasters” while ignoring the real issues in the state. The group emphasized that it is a non-partisan organization focused on promoting good governance and accountability, and it does not support the actions of the expelled members.

The CRC reiterated its commitment to promoting the truth and the rule of law in Rivers State, stating that it will not be swayed by personal interests or political affiliations. This development comes amid an ongoing political crisis in the state between Wike and Fubara, which has continued despite interventions by President Bola Tinubu and other stakeholders.

It bears mentioning that just yesterday The Concerned Rivers Citizens (CRC) had countered false claims made by a reportedly pseudo-pro-Fubara group alleging that Rivers lawmakers would compromise a verdict thereby suggesting a compromised judiciary.
