The Despicable Ploy Disguised as Strategy

“He has strategy.” What strategy, exactly? Is giving your mother—whom you refused to take care of for years—two dericas of rice, some salt, and ₦2,000 during election season now called strategy?

If all of you aren’t relying on rigging, vote buying, intimidating people with thugs, bribing governors, and controlling INEC, then tell BAT to enter the field man to man and see if Nigerians won’t send him packing, starting from Lagos, just like they did in 2023.

Impunity is not strategy and the painful part is that some people are glorifying this because of tribal loyalty or because of promises they’ve been hearing since 2023 that they have yet to see materialize in their real lives. Look around.

The price of food is unbearable. Transport is draining people daily. The naira keeps losing value. Businesses are shutting down. Families are struggling to survive. Young people are frustrated and exhausted. Yet some people still clap because rice was shared.

Do you know how painful that is? A whole nation with massive potential has been reduced to celebrating temporary handouts while enduring permanent hardship.

That same “strategy” you’re praising today is why you’ll collect rice, salt, and ₦2,000 for one day, then suffer for years because of bad governance.

Because after the cameras leave: You’ll still buy fuel at painful prices. You’ll still struggle with electricity. You’ll still battle inflation. You’ll still struggle to survive in an economy that keeps getting harder.

But somehow, some people still defend the people responsible for the suffering because of tribe, politics, or stomach infrastructure. This is exactly why bad leadership keeps repeating itself in Nigeria.

Politicians already know many citizens are desperate. They know poverty has weakened people. So instead of building systems that work, they master the art of managing suffering. And the saddest part?

Some people no longer expect development. They only expect giveaways during elections. That is not strategy.

Real strategy is creating jobs. Real strategy is building an economy where citizens can feed themselves without waiting for politicians. Real strategy is stable electricity, affordable food, good healthcare, quality education, and security. Real strategy is building a country where people have dignity, not dependency.

Anything outside that is manipulation packaged as politics. Wisdom is chasing some people, but they’re running faster.
