Military officers from the Nigerian Army and Navy have been arrested following a brawl on Friday in Bayelsa State during President Bola Tinubu’s visit.
This comes after the Nigerian Navy made this statement in response to a video that has been going around on social media showing the brawl. This video is less than a minute long and features a heated exchange that turned into a full-on brawl.

From the video, the conflict seems to start with the driver of the Hilux car with “Naval Police” inscribed on it stepping down to argue with another person driving. While he initially got back into his car, things took a turn for the worse when a soldier armed with a gun came over and slapped him, leading to the brawl.
Thereafter, chaos ensued, as the people on the vehicles fought each other without restraint, all the while civilians watching in awe. This incident occurred as President Tinubu was leaving after attending an event in the state
The exact cause of the confrontation remains unclear as investigations continue.
Reacting to the development, the Director of Naval Information, Navy Captain Abi Folorunso, confirmed in a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter) that all personnel involved have been taken into custody. He added that they are currently undergoing disciplinary procedures in line with established military regulations.
The military authorities have assured the public that appropriate action will be taken to address the misconduct and maintain discipline within the ranks.
