Youth Task Force, Soldiers Intercept Suspects Dumping Alleged Torture Victim in Rivers

The Youth and Joint Task Force, with the support of soldiers guarding critical facilities, on Sunday intercepted three suspects allegedly attempting to dump the corpse of a man believed to have been tortured to death in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Those arrested include the Vigilante Vice Chairman of Okogbe community, Joshua, another vigilante member, Friday Silas, and a commercial motorcycle rider, Godlove Obed. The arrest was made in Ukpeliede community on February 8, 2026, following heightened surveillance prompted by recent security concerns in the area.

The deceased according to Revelation Agent report, identified as Ghadafi, was allegedly apprehended in Okogbe community over accusations of stealing palm fruits.

Visual evidence obtained by this reporter showed the naked body of the victim with hands and legs bound with ropes, suggesting severe maltreatment before death.

Security operatives became suspicious at about 1:30 pm after sighting a motorcycle conveying what appeared to be a lifeless body towards Idu Ekpeye. Further tracking revealed that the corpse had been dropped within Ukpeliede community and later moved again in an apparent attempt to relocate it to another area.

Swift coordination between community security personnel, soldiers, and other security agencies led to the interception of the suspects while they were returning towards Okogbe community. The suspects reportedly led operatives to the spot where the body had been transferred.

During preliminary interrogation, the suspects allegedly admitted that the victim died during torture inflicted while in their custody. They also claimed the deceased had a history of theft and criminal activities within the community and that previous reports had been made to law enforcement authorities without yielding results.

As at press time, the Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, Chief Superintendent of Police Grace Iringe Koko, had confirmed that three suspects linked to the brutality has been arrested, while the corpse was recovered for proper examination..


“The suspect was involved in various cases of stealing and also attempted to rape an NYSC member in 2023. He was assaulted by community youths, which led to his death,” she while nothing that investigation is ongoing.
