Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering critical infrastructure projects aimed at improving the socio-economic well-being of residents across the state. He made the remarks on Wednesday while inspecting ongoing rehabilitation works on roads within the Port Harcourt Old Township and the reconstruction of the Creek Road Market.
Speaking at the Creek Road Market, the governor said he was fulfilling a pledge made last year to restore the town’s aesthetic appeal and address the persistent challenge of traders operating along the streets. Fubara disclosed that the contractor had mobilised to the site, adding that reconstruction work on the market was expected to begin within the week.
According to him, the project was designed to relocate traders into designated market spaces, thereby clearing the roads and enabling comprehensive road rehabilitation. He said the initiative aligned with the administration’s broader goal of improving the urban landscape and restoring the town’s visual appeal.

He added that once traders moved into the market, road repairs would be properly completed, allowing the town’s beauty to reflect once again. At the road project site being handled by Setraco Nigeria Limited, the Project Manager, Engr Michel Issa, guided the governor through the progress of work.
Fubara stressed that the scope of the project extended beyond market reconstruction, covering the rehabilitation of roads from Borokiri through the entire township to ensure sustainable infrastructure development. He sent a clear message that his administration remained focused on leadership and public service, rather than external pressures, vowing not to allow distractions to derail its progress.
