Rivers, Cross River To Host APC South-South Zonal Convention

The All Progressives Congress (APC) announced that its 2026 South-South zonal congresses will be held in Rivers and Cross River States.

In a document signed by National Organising Secretary Sulaiman Argungu, the party stated that the zonal congress is scheduled for 25 March 2026.

The document, which outlined the revised 2026 timetable, also detailed the schedules for ward, local government, state, zonal congresses, and the national convention.

Argungu noted that the purchase and submission of forms for the zonal congress and national convention will run from 12 to 16 March 2026. He said the timetable was drawn in accordance with the provisions of Article 11:4 (i–xiii) and Article 17(i) of the party’s constitution.

Forms for state executive positions will be available from 22 to 25 February, while state congresses are set for 3 March. Membership e-registration for ward and local government activities will begin on 31 January and conclude on 8 February.

Notice of congresses to state and FCT chapters will be issued on 2 February, and forms for ward and local government congresses will be available from 4 to 9 February. The inauguration of the ward/LGA screening and appeals committees will follow on 10 February.

Screening of aspirants for ward and LGA positions is scheduled for 11–12 February, with ward congresses on 18 February and LGA congresses, including the election of three members (one female) to the National Convention, on 21 February. Appeals arising from the LGA congresses will be held on 23 February. The national convention is slated for Friday and Saturday, 27–28 March.

Argungu also announced the fees for nomination forms. Ward positions will attract a fee of ₦5,000, while the nomination form for ward chairman is set at ₦20,000. Ward secretaries and treasurers will pay ₦15,000, as will ward vice chairmen and other officers.

All local government positions will cost ₦10,000, with the local government chairman’s form pegged at ₦100,000, and other LGA offices at ₦50,000 each. Forms for all state party positions will attract a fee of ₦50,000, while the state chairman’s form is set at ₦1,000,000. State vice chairmen, secretaries, and treasurers will pay ₦500,000 each.

For zonal offices, the form for all positions is ₦100,000, while zonal officers will pay ₦200,000. Forms for all national positions will cost ₦100,000, with the national chairman’s form pegged at ₦10,000,000. For the Deputy national chairmen (North & South) and the national secretary, Argungu said the form will cost ₦7,500,000.

Argungu noted that female, youth, and physically challenged aspirants will pay only the expression of interest fee plus 50% of the prescribed nomination fee for each position.
