Rivers Impeachment Saga: APC Promises Bold Response in Due Course

The All Progressives Congress (APC) at the national level reacted cautiously to the impeachment process the Rivers State House of Assembly initiated against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu.

The Port City News (TCPN) had reported that the House of Assembly, weeks earlier, had launched the impeachment over allegations of gross misconduct and confirmed that notices had been served to Fubara and Odu.

In a recent interview, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, disclosed that the APC would announce its position at the appropriate time. He stressed that his reluctance to comment publicly did not indicate disengagement from the Rivers crisis.

Morka maintained that the party’s responsibility was to manage its affairs maturely and act as a responsible political organisation.

“Processes must be allowed to run their course so that, in the end, the right conclusions are reached,” the spokesperson said.

TCPN had also reported that amid the political turmoil, Fubara assured residents that governance in the state would continue uninterrupted. The governor reaffirmed his commitment to delivering on campaign promises despite the impeachment proceedings.

Describing the friction as a “love letter” delivered to his administration in early 2026, Fubara emphasised that his focus remained firmly on public service. He dismissed claims of administrative paralysis, declaring that he remained fully in charge of the state’s affairs.

According to him, his administration continued to execute its responsibilities and support all individuals and groups genuinely committed to the progress of Rivers State.
