Speaking on the programme, organisers said the training responds to the growing threat of cyberattacks on critical national assets, particularly in the energy sector, where digital systems play an increasingly central role in operations and security.

The curriculum covers core areas of cybersecurity, including network fundamentals, threat identification, risk assessment, vulnerability management and incident response, with an emphasis on practical, hands-on learning.

According to NCDMB, investing in cybersecurity capacity building is essential to strengthening indigenous participation in the oil and gas value chain while ensuring the resilience of industry operations against emerging digital threats.

The programme is expected to benefit young professionals, IT practitioners and industry stakeholders by improving their employability, enhancing organisational cybersecurity readiness and reducing exposure to cyber risks.

Participants will also gain industry-relevant knowledge aligned with global best practices, positioning them to contribute meaningfully to national development and the protection of critical infrastructure.

Organisers described the training as a strategic step towards bridging the digital skills gap, promoting youth empowerment and fostering a safer, more resilient oil and gas sector in Nigeria.
