Asari-Dokubo Vows to Confront and Eliminate Terrorists in Port Harcourt

Former militant leader and Niger Delta activist, Mujahid Asari-Dokubo, has issued a strong warning to terrorist groups, declaring that he will not hesitate to confront and eliminate any insurgent who attempts to infiltrate or operate within Port Harcourt.

His comments come amid rising concerns over escalating kidnappings, banditry, and extremist attacks across Nigeria.

In a viral video released on Tuesday, Asari-Dokubo reacted to the surge in nationwide insecurity, insisting that no terrorist organisation including Boko Haram would be allowed to destabilise the Rivers State capital.

He stated that his commitment to confronting violent extremists is unwavering and not influenced by religious loyalty or political calculus.

According to him, he has engaged insurgents in several parts of the country and would not hesitate to do the same in Port Harcourt.

“If Boko Haram comes to Port Harcourt, my business na to kill them. I dey Zamfara dey kill them, I dey Plateau dey kill them, I dey Niger dey kill them. If they come to Port Harcourt, my business is to kill them,” he declared.

Asari-Dokubo emphasised that his stance is driven by self-defence and the need to protect residents, stressing that his identity as a Muslim does not weaken his resolve. “I’m not apologetic. If you come to fight me, I will kill you. That one is no compromise,” he insisted.

His remarks have reignited debate over the extent of his growing influence in regional security affairs and his decades-long history of armed involvement in the Niger Delta.

Critics argue that his statements reflect a troubling reliance on non-state actors, while supporters see him as a decisive voice against terror.
