SGF Convenes Council of State, Police Council on National Security

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has invited members of the Council of State and the Police Council to a hybrid strategic meeting to address critical national security and policing issues.

The high-level gathering is scheduled for Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the Council Chambers within the Aso Villa, Abuja.

According to a statement issued by Segun Imohiosen, the Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the SGF, the meeting aims to deliberate on matters of national importance, with a specific focus on strengthening peace and stability across the country.

Emanso Okop Umobong, Permanent Secretary of the Cabinet Affairs Office, was quoted as explaining that the session is designed to foster collaboration among key stakeholders to effectively address the nation’s pressing security challenges.

The strategic meetings will be held sequentially: the Council of State will convene at 1:00 pm, immediately followed by the Police Council meeting at 2:00 pm.
