Fubara Visits Aso Rock, Briefs President Tinubu on Resumption of Duties

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, on Monday, September 22, 2025, visited the Presidential Villa, Abuja, to formally brief President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his resumption of duty following the lifting of the state of emergency in Rivers State.

Speaking to State House correspondents after a closed-door meeting with the President, Governor Fubara confirmed that peace had been restored between him and his political principal, stressing that they were now working together in harmony.

He emphasised that “the greatest thing anybody can wish for in life is peace” stressing that peace in the community brings development to the people.

According to him, “Peace with yourself is good health and the most important thing. So, I urge everyone to make sure that they hold peace as a symbol of unity and development for our dear State.

“You are aware the suspension was lifted at midnight on September 17, and I returned on September 19. Ideally, it is proper for me to see Mr. President and brief him that I am back and have resumed my responsibilities as the Governor of Rivers State,” Fubara said.

The Governor’s visit comes as part of efforts to consolidate peace and stability in Rivers State after months of political crisis that led to the declaration of emergency rule.
