A coalition of women under the banner of Rivers Women Unite for Sim has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Wike, for their collective efforts in resolving the recent political crisis in Rivers State.
The group expressed their appreciation during a special fellowship themed “Finger of God” held on Thursday, 18 September 2025, at the Ecumenical Centre in Port Harcourt.
In a statement issued by its Media Officer, Comrade Glory Sunday, the women described the suspension of emergency rule and the reinstatement of democratic structures as a major relief to the people of the state.

“Rivers Women, under the aegis of Rivers Women Unite for Sim, have applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and the FCT Minister, Chief Nyesom Wike, alongside other leaders and stakeholders, for their roles in ending the political impasse and restoring democracy in Rivers State,” Sunday added.
They also applauded the courage of Rivers citizens, civil society organisations, and the media who, according to them, remained steadfast during the period of uncertainty.
The women further appealed for reconciliation, forgiveness, and unity among all stakeholders to consolidate peace and foster sustainable development across the state.
“Above all, they gave thanks to Almighty God for showing His hand in restoring stability and a way forward for Rivers people and Rivers State,” the statement concluded.
Recalled that on Wednesday President Tinubu in his broadcasted speech, called off the emergency rule declared since 18 March, 2025 after various political fallout between Governor Fubara and Minister Wike.
