Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has officially resumed his duties at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
The Port City News earlier reported that his return follows the conclusion of the state of emergency that had been in place since March 18.
The governor, who arrived in the company of his wife and other key officials, including his deputy, Ngozi Nma Odu, and Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, landed at Port Harcourt International Airport at 12:19 p.m.
Upon his arrival at the airport, Fubara was met by a welcoming crowd that included former commissioners and local government chairmen.

He later thanked the people for their support at the Government House, expressing his gratitude for the warm reception he received.
He also acknowledged the crowd that had gathered to greet him the previous day, calling it a humbling display of love, confidence, and solidarity.
The governor stated that the reception “shows the reactivation of the bond between this government and the people of Rivers State.”

He also pledged that his administration would continue to meet the needs of the state’s residents. Fubara is scheduled to address the people of Rivers State at 6 p.m. this evening.

“I want to assure you that we will continue to do those things that have made you people love us. I want to appreciate everyone and to say that we love you. We are going to address the state officially by 6 pm, and in that broadcast, every authority that gave support to this normally will be properly recognised”.
This newspaper reported that the House of Assembly resumed its sittings on Thursday. During the emergency rule, which ended on Wednesday, retired Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas was sworn in as the sole administrator. In a farewell broadcast, Ibas urged political leaders to embrace dialogue and mutual respect.
In July, during the emergency rule, Ibas inaugurated the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), which conducted local government elections in August.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) won 20 of the 23 council seats, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured the remaining three.
