DMOMA Nomination Will Drive Me to Do More for My People — Senator Banigo

Senator Dr. (Mrs.) Ipalibo Harry Banigo, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Health and Senator representing Rivers West Senatorial District, has expressed gratitude to the organizers of the Distinguished Merit & Outstanding Modern Achievers (DMOMA) Awards for nominating her as Most Outstanding Senator of the Year.

Receiving her nomination letter from the Chairman of the DMOMA Awards Board of Trustees, Dr. Ezebunwo Nyeche, Senator Banigo described the recognition as humbling and inspiring.

“I never thought of awards; I have simply been focused on serving my people and fulfilling the mandate given to me. This recognition strengthens my resolve to do even more for Rivers West and indeed Nigeria,” she said.

She commended the DMOMA Awards for promoting accountability and celebrating leadership impact, pledging to continue prioritizing healthcare, education, empowerment, and infrastructure development in her constituency.

Dr. Nyeche explained that Senator Banigo’s nomination followed wide consultations across the eight LGAs of Rivers West and endorsements by ten online media platforms. He noted that her achievements in healthcare reform, grassroots empowerment, and legislative leadership made her selection undeniable.

Among her key contributions are free healthcare initiatives, a health insurance program in partnership with the NHIA, advocacy for a Federal Medical Centre in Bonny, micro-enterprise empowerment schemes, scholarships, infrastructure projects, and agricultural support programs.

Now in its sixth edition, the DMOMA Awards is one of West Africa’s leading recognition platforms, celebrating excellence, innovation, and humanitarian service across Nigeria and Africa. The 2025 award ceremony will hold in December.
