‎Eagles Striker Boniface Set For Bremen First Appearance

‎Nigerian forward Victor Boniface may make his first field appearance for Werder Bremen when they visit Borussia Mönchengladbach on Sunday.

‎The 24-year-old is anticipated to be part of Bremen’s lineup for the Bundesliga match at Stadion in Borussia-Park, with the kick-off set for 4:30 PM Nigerian time.

‎Boniface transferred to Bremen on loan from Bayer Leverkusen on transfer deadline day after a potential move to AC Milan did not materialize during the summer.

‎The striker, who played a vital role in Leverkusen’s unbeaten Bundesliga title victory in the 2023/24 season, was officially presented by Bremen last week following the completion of his medical examination.

‎Bremen’s manager, Horst Steffen, is expected to feature Boniface in his starting lineup alongside Romano Schmid and Samuel Mbangula in the forward positions as they aim to recover from their recent 1-4 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt, particularly given the number of injuries affecting the squad.

‎Bremen will be missing several key players for the match on Sunday, with Niklas Stark serving a suspension and Mitchell Weiser, Maximilian Wöber, Olivier Deman, Julian Malatini, and Marco Friedl all sidelined due to injuries.

‎The Green-Whites previously drew 3-3 with Bayer Leverkusen in their last home game, showcasing their offensive capabilities despite defensive weaknesses that have been highlighted early in the season.

‎Boniface has refuted recent rumors regarding his fitness, asserting that he is completely ready for his new endeavor.

‎“Who is questioning my fitness? If I were not fully fit, I would be in a hospital bed, not here speaking with you,” he stated during his unveiling press conference.

‎“Whatever the media reports, that is their concern. If my body were not at 100%, I would not be here conversing with you.”
