David and Chioma Adeleke

Chioma Adeleke, wife of Afrobeats superstar Davido, has made a poignant return to Instagram nearly three years after the tragic loss of their son, Ifeanyi David Adedeji Adeleke Jr. Her post, which has since gone viral, marks her first public expression of grief since the heartbreaking incident that shook fans across the globe.

In the photo, Chioma is seen dressed in a stunning white lace gown, holding a bouquet of white flowers. Around her wrist is a delicate bracelet featuring a pendant with a photo of her late son, Ifeanyi—a deeply personal symbol of remembrance. Her caption reads: “My best friend walked me into forever… Ify, you’re on my mind every day, and you live in my heart. Always and forever. Love, mummy”

Recall that Ifeanyi Adeleke was born on October 20, 2019, and tragically passed away on October 31, 2022, just days after celebrating his third birthday. The cause of death was confirmed as drowning in a swimming pool at Davido’s Banana Island residence. The incident sparked widespread mourning across Nigeria and the global entertainment community.

Despite the immense grief, Chioma and Davido have continued to honour their son’s memory while building a life together. The couple had a traditional wedding on November 4, 2022, in Lagos, followed by a lavish white wedding in Miami on August 10, 2025, attended by family, friends, and industry heavyweights.

Chioma’s return to social media coincides with this new chapter in her life, symbolising both healing and celebration. Her tribute to Ifeanyi serves as a reminder of the enduring bond between mother and child, even in the face of unimaginable loss.
