Nigerian Film Corporation Denies Death Rumors Against Ali Nuhu

The Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) has moved swiftly to quash a disturbing wave of online misinformation, formally denying rampant social media rumours that falsely reported the death of its Managing Director and Chief Executive, the revered actor and filmmaker Dr. Ali Nuhu.

The alarming speculation appears to have originated from a post by a Facebook user, Ifeoma Chigbo, who shared a video expressing unfounded claims about Nuhu’s passing while paradoxically hoping the report was incorrect. This initial post quickly spread, with further unsubstantiated allegations emerging that the veteran entertainer and government official had tragically perished in a fatal automobile accident.

In an official statement released by the Corporation’s Director of Public Affairs, Brian Etuk, issued a stern and comprehensive rebuttal. He characterised the widespread reports as completely baseless and malicious, firmly affirming that Dr. Nuhu is in good health and actively fulfilling his duties at the helm of the NFC.

The Corporation’s statement left no room for ambiguity, stating:

“The attention of the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) has been drawn to the purported passing of Dr. Ali Nuhu, its current Managing Director/Chief Executive, being orchestrated within the social media space; and wishes to officially and unambiguously inform the general public that the reports, including videos laced with the pictures of Dr. Ali Nuhu, are not only malicious and injurious but false in their entirety.

“Dr. Ali Nuhu is alive, well, and discharging the responsibilities of the office of NFC’s Chief Executive, having been appointed by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) on February 12, 2024.”

Beyond simply setting the record straight, the NFC issued a direct warning to those responsible for creating and disseminating the false narrative. The statement indicated that legal and regulatory measures are already being initiated to address what it described as an “ugly, baleful, and unsatisfactory conduct and trend.”

It further cautioned: “NFC wishes to draw the attention of perpetrators of these uncouth and dastardly acts, including their sponsors, to the dire and unmistakable consequences of their actions, no matter the innocuousness of their intent.”

Concluding on a note of gratitude, the NFC acknowledged the outpouring of concern from the public and various stakeholders, which was prompted by the malicious hoax.
