Man Stabs Female Lover to Death Over Alleged Infidelity

Tragedy struck on Sunday night, August 17, 2025, at Okereke Street, Mile 1 Diobu, Port Harcourt, when a man popularly known as Doctor allegedly stabbed his female lover, identified as Ima, to death following an accusation of infidelity.

According to reports, an altercation ensued between the pair after the suspect confronted Ima over alleged cheating. The confrontation reportedly turned violent, leading to the fatal stabbing.

The caretaker of the compound was said to have immediately reported the incident to the Azikiwe Police Division, Mile 2 Diobu, where the suspect was subsequently arrested.

On Monday morning, a large crowd of sympathizers and onlookers gathered outside the Azikiwe Police Division when the victim’s corpse was brought to the station. Our correspondent observed that the body was later taken by the police to an undisclosed mortuary.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, had ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for discreet investigation.

Meanwhile, the National Coordinator of the Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign, Prince Wiro, who was at the police station, urged the police to ensure justice.

“We are calling on the police to ensure a thorough and unbiased investigation with a view to serving justice on the matter,” Wiro said.

He also advised young people to avoid toxic relationships, stressing that no relationship is worth one’s life.
