Chief of Army Staff Inaugurates Projects at 16 Brigade, Yenagoa

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede has enjoined officers and men of the Nigerian Army in the Niger Delta to do more to protect lives and critical national assets in the Niger Delta.

He gave the charge during an operational visit to the Sixteen Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Yenagoa where he inaugurated some projects.

Some of the projects inaugurated by General Oluyede were the Annex building, detention facility and electrification scheme at the Sixteen Brigade and a Garrison House at the Sixteen Brigade Garrison.

The Chief of Army Staff during the operational visit to the 16 Brigade in Yenagoa reiterated the resolve of the Nigerian Army to protecting lives and property.

While urging Nigerians to support the Army, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede stated that officers and men deployed to the Niger Delta had recorded tremendous success in tackling issues such as oil theft and pipeline vandalism which has led to increase in crude oil production and revenue base of the government, charging them to do more to ramp up production.

General Oluyede who addressed some of the officers and men of the 16 Brigade said the Nigerian Army would continue to take measures to address some of the challenges they face in the course of their service to the nation.

He commended the Bayelsa State government and the Niger Delta Development Commission for their support through project interventions at the 16 Brigade.

The Chief of Army Staff was received on arrival in the Bayelsa State capital by the General Officer Commanding 6 Division, Major General Emmanuel Ejim-Emekah, the Commander, 16 Brigade of the Nigerian Army and Sector 2 Joint Task Force, South-South Operation Delta Safe, Brigadier General Oluremi Obolo, and Commander 16 Brigade Garrison, Lieutenant Colonel Muhammed Kaigama.
