Popular Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck, born Tochukwu Ojogwu, has sparked debate online after declaring that Lagos is the worst city for young artists to develop their careers.
In a post shared on his X handle, the Abuja-based hip-hop star described Lagos as a selfish and toxic environment, warning that artists who grow there risk becoming “greedy, selfish, and self-centered beasts.”
“The worst place for a young artist to grow is Lagos. It’s the most selfish place to grow,” he wrote.
“You will become them; a greedy, selfish, and self-centered packaged beast.”
Odumodublvck credited his Abuja upbringing for giving him an edge in the Nigerian music industry, claiming that his authenticity helped him break through without conforming to Lagos’ competitive culture.
