UNIPORT Mourns 300-Level Students Involved in Car Crash

Pre-degree and Certificate students, along with the Management of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), on Monday mourned 300-level Miss Zalmon Beatrice Ebirien, who was involved in a ghastly motor accident at Rumuokoro, located in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area (LGA).

On July 28, a vehicle conveying the late Miss Ebirien with other passengers, along with the driver, was said to have been involved in an accident on the Rumuokoro–Eliozu expressway.

According to reports, two UNIPORT students (Miss Oluchi, a 300-level student of the Department of Economics), an infant, along with two others, lost their lives.

“Today, Pre-degree and Certificate students of the University of Port Harcourt held a solemn funeral procession in honour of their late colleague, Miss Zalmon Beatrice Ebirien, who tragically lost her life in the recent ghastly motor accident at Rumuokoro — the same crash that also claimed a 300-level student of the Department of Economics,” the statement notes.

Following the candlelight walk within the school premises, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Owunari Georgewill, addressed the grieving students who stopped at the Senate Building.

He urged the students to find comfort in the cherished memories shared and the strength of the UNIPORT community, while echoing, “May their souls rest in perfect peace.”
