Former Chelsea striker Eni Aluko has called on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to enhance the competitiveness, organisation, and overall attractiveness of Nigerian football to draw in dual-nationality players, as reported.
In a recent discussion on Spotify, Aluko highlighted the necessity for the NFF to take the initiative in persuading elite players to opt for Nigeria instead of other countries.
”England is England. Players who grow up here and eventually play for their country of heritage often do so because they believe they won’t have a career with England, making it a default choice, which it shouldn’t be,” Aluko stated.

”The onus is on the country to make that option appealing. There are still challenges to address regarding organisation, investment, and professionalism,” she continued.
Aluko emphasised that the Nigerian football framework must progress to become a “competitive option” for players who are eligible to represent multiple nations.
While Aluko represented England’s Lionesses at the international level, her brother Sone Aluko played for the Super Eagles.
