Rivers United complete the Signing of Kun Khalifat Forward Chinedu Sunday

Rivers United has bolstered their roster in preparation for the 2025–26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season with the acquisition of Chinedu Sunday, according to a report.

The skilled forward joins the Port Harcourt-based team from the newly promoted NPFL club Kun Khalifat FC, following an outstanding performance at the Nigeria National League (NNL) Super Eight Playoffs held in Asaba.

Sunday was among the top performers for Kun Khalifat during the playoffs and is now anticipated to vie for a position in Rivers United’s esteemed lineup.

The former NPFL champions are ramping up their preparations for what is expected to be a demanding season.

The 2025–26 NPFL season is scheduled to commence on Friday, August 22.

The official events to inaugurate the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season will begin with an Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Abuja.

In a correspondence sent to the clubs, the NPFL Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi, indicated that the AGM will take place on Monday, 28 July at the Abuja Continental Hotel (formerly known as the Old Abuja Sheraton Hotel), with all attendees expected to arrive by Sunday, 27 July.
