CWC 2025: Semi-Final Pairings Confirmed After Madrid Win Over Dortmund

After Saturday night’s Real Madrid 3-2 win over Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund, the lineup for the semi-final stage of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup has been finalised.

Four elite clubs now stand ready to vie for a place in the prestigious final.

Spanish giant Madrid secured their passage as the last team to qualify for the final four after beating Dortmund, thanks to Gonzalo Garcia, Fran Garcia and substitute Kylian Mbappe’s goals.

The French champions, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and the Champions League winners qualified for the semi-final after defeating Bayern Munich 2-0.

Goals from Desire Doue and Ousmane Dembele saw the French side advance despite being reduced to nine players after Willian Pacho and Lucas Hernandez’s red cards.

Yesterday’s result means Madrid will face PSG, setting up a fitting reunion for Mbappe, who joined the La Liga side from the Ligue 1 club.

In the other semi-final fixture, Chelsea will go head-to-head with Fluminense. The Blues and Premier League club advanced after a narrow 2-1 win over Palmeiras in their quarter-final, while Fluminense secured their spot by eliminating Saudi club Al-Hilal.

The semi-final ties are scheduled to take place next Tuesday and Wednesday, promising an exhilarating climax to this year’s expanded Club World Cup format.
